Visiting Us

First Mennonite Church is a warm and energetic congregation. On a typical Sunday, about two hundred people gather for worship and Christian education. The worship service blends together traditional hymns, instrumental music, and occasional contemporary songs. Children (we have lots of them) come forward for a Children’s Time, and members of the congregation may share their joys and prayer requests. Sermons are thought-provoking and inspirational. Following the worship service is a fellowship time with coffee and other drinks, and then a variety of classes are offered for adults as well as for every age level of children and youth.

The church offers a wide variety of ways to get involved beyond worship and Sunday school: small groups that meet in homes for a fellowship meal, sharing, and prayer; service projects in and beyond the community; monthly soup suppers; and participation on committees that plan worship, education, fellowship events, mission projects, etc.

First Mennonite welcomes diversity and seeks to nurture people starting where they are at. Our goal is to make disciples who are committed to God’s love, peacemaking, and service.
