Adding a Bulletin

Any Bulletin posted to the site must be in PDF format – do not post original source documents (Microsoft Word).

Prepare the Bulletin for Upload

  1. Obtain the original Microsoft Word document from Emilie Walson
  2. Edit the document:
    1. Remove the Birthdays section and all names
    2. Remove the Prayer List and all names
    3. Other than Bob, Shannon and Ben, remove all last names from the bulletin.
  3. Save the document in PDF format.
  4. The name of the file should be in the format yyyy-mm-dd_FMC_Bulletin. For example, the PDF file for the bulletin for June 10, 2018 would be named 2018_06_10_FMC_Bulletin.pdf. It is necessary to name the file in this manner so the documents display correctly when the Publications > Bulletins menu option is selected.

Upload the Bulletin to the website

  1. Select Media > Add New to open the Upload New Media Page
  2. If using the multi-file uploader:
    1. Click on the Open Bulk Edit area button.
    2. Click on the Bulletins attachment category.
    3. Select the file you wish to upload and drag/drop it onto the bulk uploaded window (indicated by the dotted lines). The file(s) will be automatically uploaded into the Media Library and will tagged with the Bulletins attachment category.
    4. Select Edit for the newly upload file you wish to edit – the Edit Media page for the uploaded document will be displayed.
    5. Click in the Caption text box. Enter the caption to be displayed for this document, for example “June 10, 2018”.
    6. Ensure the Bulletins attachment category is selected.
    7. Click on the Update button to save these changes.
  3. If using the Browser Uploader:
    1. Click on the Browse… button to select a file for upload.
    2. After the appropriate file is selected click on the Upload button. The file will be uploaded into the Media Library.
    3. When the upload is complete the Media Library will be opened.
    4. Select the file you’ve just uploaded – the Attachment Details window will be opened.
    5. Select Edit more details to open the Edit Media page for the uploaded document.
    6. Click in the Caption text box. Enter the caption to be displayed for this document, for example “June 10, 2018”.
    7. Select the Bulletins attachment category.
    8. Click on the Update button to save these changes.
  4. If you’ve tagged the document with the appropriate metadata (Attachment Category) then using the Publications > Bulletins menu selection on the website will display this document in the listing of all Bulletins.
    1. If the file is not displayed ensure that the file is tagged with the Bulletins attachment category – this MUST be selected for the document to be included in the listing.
    2. If the file is displayed but with a blank or incorrect text caption ensure that the file has the appropriate Caption entered.
