Worship Services
Sunday Mornings at First Mennonite Church
9:30 am – Worship
Weekly Worship services include a blend of music, prayer, scripture, and preaching. Our music ranges from contemporary songs and traditional hymns to instrumental pieces. We also regularly include children’s moments, communion, and times of sharing.
10:45 am – Fellowship Time
Fellowship Time creates opportunities for conversation and connection with each other after worship. Enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate during this unstructured time. Our volunteers also provide snacks during Fellowship Time on the second Sunday of each month.
11:00 am – Sunday School
Every other Sunday, Sunday School opens the opportunity for all ages to grow in faith. Children’s classes offer engaging lessons and activities. The adult classes range from Bible studies to discussion-based learning. Occasionally, we use this time for a special presentation or conversation for the whole church.

When things are right in your face, you go cross-eyed trying to see them clearly. Jesus’s request to “not worry” invites us to focus on what’s a little further away—without erasing or downplaying the worries right in front of us.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words—they just might stab me!” How we wield our words is one of the most common topics in Proverbs. Interpersonal speech and speech that describes systemic dysfunction hurt… but is the alternative silence? How do we heal?

Two thousand years before COVID-19, Jesus was already social distancing, even from his best friends like Mary! As we celebrate Easter, we move from embracing the certainty of Jesus’s death to the openness—and open-endedness—Jesus’s resurrection ushers in. This week we conclude our series “Seeking God’s Ways” with the theme “From Certainty to Openness.”

“End times, pulpit-thumping, repent the end is here!” Okay, maybe not… As I interpret these verses, I hear Peter saying, “The end of all things is near, but so what?” We’re called to follow Christ no matter what is going on, and that is to be prayerful, love each other, love the stranger, and be service-oriented.
